Dr. Robert Adams, PT, DPT, OCS
Hi, I’m Robert.
Part coach, part doctor, part handstand-obsessed athlete.
I’m here to help you break through limitations, recover, and realize what you are really physically and mentally capable of — so you can become the best version of yourself.
With more than 10 years of experience in personal training, coaching, and physical therapy, I have worked with clients at all levels — from recovering athletes to yogis, gymnasts, circus artists, dancers and more.
Whether you’re attempting your first handstand, teaching others to uplevel their skills, or healing from an injury, I create personalized training plans based on your goals, and give you the knowledge you need to keep moving and growing for many years to come.
Dr. Robert Adams, PT, DPT, OCS
How it all started
I spent the first part of my career teaching yoga. This gave me exposure to working with students from different backgrounds and ability levels, but I kept coming across the same issues.
When students needed additional tools to progress or felt frustrated by cookie-cutter approaches that didn’t work for their bodies, I wasn’t sure what to offer or how to help them. I could share “this is what worked for me,” or “this is what my teacher says,” but I wanted to be able to give more customized, evidence-based support.
I decided to become a physical therapist so I could have the tools to help students move past any limitations and continue to grow.
PT approach with real-world training experience
Going to school to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy gave me a much deeper understanding of the body and how to manage injuries. Most importantly, it gave me a process to work with individuals regardless of their background that I continue to use today with my one-on-one clients.
Combining my PT background with years of coaching and my own personal practice, I help my clients remove their barriers to movement.
My approach to coaching is a unique blend of evidence-based solutions and real experience “in-the-field” with myself and my clients. Following the latest research and case studies, I make sure my clients are getting the most current, science-backed solutions to guide their training.
When you work with me, I meet you where you are and offer a customized plan, so you can move past your limitations and achieve your goals.

From handbalancing hobbyist to handstand expert
I had always had an interest in handbalancing from yoga, but after discovering Ape Co Movement School, I quickly became obsessed with handstands and loved challenging my body’s in this way. Having a concrete goal to work towards in my training made me more motivated.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from handstand experts and performance artists like Andrey Moraru, Marie-Eve DiCaire, Dima Shine, and others. Through my decades of personal training experience and PT knowledge, I’ve come to specialize in helping students, teachers and coaches alike improve their handbalancing practice.
An educator at heart
Over the last decade, I have taught handbalancing, yoga, strength and mobility, and other forms of movement. My experience teaching with hundreds of students and clients helps me adapt my approach to your unique needs and learning style.
Today, I offer handstand coaching, personal training, physical therapy, anatomy workshops and classes to clients in Colorado and across the globe.
I love leading workshops that transform what could be a boring human anatomy lecture into a fun, hands-on way for you to discover how the human body works.
In my free time
In my free time (when I’m not doing handstands or acrobatics), I love to cook, bake, hike, and spend time with family and friends.
