Physical Therapy and Personal Training
Robert loves working with active populations and has over a decade of experience teaching handbalancing, yoga, strength and mobility, and other forms of movement. Robert specializes in working with people who practice “alternative fitness,” including handbalancers, yogis, gymnasts, circus artists, pole dancers, partner acrobats, and others. He uses his teaching experience to meet the unique needs and learning style of each client. Robert approaches care with a focus on the whole person and each client’s personal goals for treatment and long-term wellness and/or performance. His treatment approach not only facilitates recovery but also teaches patients to manage symptoms on their own in a sustained way to prevent future injury.
Robert utilizes an evidence-based approach that combines hands-on therapy with exercise to address patient needs. Robert stays up to date with the latest research and publishes his own case studies and literature reviews. This expertise helps him find the unexpected solution when business as usual isn’t solving the problem.
Anatomy Workshops
Robert offers fun, hands-on workshops that teach human anatomy through the experience of how the body moves rather than memorization without comprehension. For his education, he took several traditional anatomy courses and witnessed classmates struggling to apply the memorized information to real life. Robert had intuitively taken a different approach where he learned by placing facts into the context of actually moving, feeling, and training his body. He then realized that he could help his peers to create a better foundation to use and integrate the information they were learning by combining the traditional, memorization-based model with his applied, experiential learning. He has since created a course based on his approach for students to help them actively engage with the knowledge they are learning right from the start.
Free Time
In his free time, Robert likes to cook, bake, and spend time with family and friends. He also loves to engage in all kinds of physical activity, especially hand balancing, acrobatics, strength and mobility training, and hiking.
